CoverGirl Katy Perry Lipstick & Mascara Review
I'm always a little pessimistic with celebrity beauty collaborations but the recent Katy Perry collaboration with CoverGirl has made me an optimist! The Katy Kat makeup line blends two of my favourite things together - cats and makeup - and comes up with a fun and chic collection of mascaras and matte lipsticks with fabulous colour names like Magenta Minx and Maroon Meow.I was approached by BzzAgent to review one of the Katy Perry CoverGirl Collections mascaras and lipsticks and chose the Perry Blue Mascara and Maroon Meow Matte Lipstick. I haven't worn a blue mascara since I was 13 years old and thought it would be fun to try it out and I fell in love with the Maroon Meow shade (and name) and just had to try it for myself!
The Katy Kat Eye mascara in Perry Blue is CoverGirl's first-ever electric blue mascara. Although I found that the mascara had a few clumping issues, it went on smoothly and made my lashes look long and full. The blue colour made my eyes look more awake (which is great since I work four jobs) and it was fun to wear a mascara shade besides black. The blue colour just looked like a soft black or grey from afar but up close, my friends could really notice the electric blue and I received several compliments (yay!).
The Katy Kat Matte lipstick was a surprise. Matte lipsticks usually are extremely drying but this lipstick was anything but. It didn't moisturize my lips but it didn't make my lips feel dry or cakey either. It went on easily, had a light sweet scent and taste and didn't bleed. And when it finally did start to fade after several hours, it left behind a nice burgundy wine stain on my lips. And I also received several compliments on the shade from my coworkers (yippee!).
The Katy Kat Matte lipsticks come in 11 highly pigmented shades and the Katy Kay Eye mascara comes in Very Black, Black, Waterproof Black, as well as Perry Blue. They retail for around $10 and are available at mass retailers and drugstores nationwide.
P.s!: Blue Mascara (or any other colour besides black) is a great way to change up your regular beauty routine and add some fun colour!
P.s,
Melanie!
