Happening Weekend: Spring Has Arrived!

Toronto Weekend Event Listing for March 18 - 20, 2016

This work week has been a tough one and I for one am so happy that the weekend is here. Celebrate the end of winter and say goodbye to March break this weekend with lots of fun and exciting events and happenings in Toronto.

Here are my top picks for fun events and happenings across the city this weekend:

Lifestyle:
Expect the usual and unusual costumed visitors downtown this weekend as ComicCon Toronto kicks off today runs until Sunday at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The event will be filled with workshops, seminars and a chance to meet some celebrities.

Can't wait until Easter? Bring the family down to High Park for this Sunday for the annual High Park Easter Egg Hunt. Enjoy lots of activities, bunny buskers and of course an epic Easter egg hunt!

Exhibits & Culture:
It's the last weekend to head down to Toronto's Beaches and check out the winning entries in The Second Annual Winter Stations Design Competition.

Catch some of the best international short films at The Toronto Short Film Festival ends today at Carlton Cinema. If your short on cash, don't worry - tickets are only $5 per block of short films.

The last Long Winter event takes place this Friday and Saturday at The Great Hall. Enjoy performances, art, theatre, dance, and more throughout the final two days.

Koffler Gallery's Howard Podeswa: A Brief History is absolutely amazing and a must-see! Make sure to visit before it ends soon.

Theatre & Music:
New Ideas Festival is in full swing this weekend. Enjoy a full lineup of performances including new writing, works-in-progress and experimental drama.

Food & Drink:
Missed out of The St.Patrick's Day fun on Thursday? Don't fret - there is plenty of St. Paddy's Day fun on Saturday starting with St. Paddys Day at Amsterdam Brewhouse. The usual Irish fanfare will be present as well as a special Irish stout the brewery is creating.

Looking for more Irish fun? The Guinness SPD 2016 takes place on Saturday at Polson Pier. This ticketed event features live music, DJs, a pancake breakfast, and of course beer.

And also on Saturday is The St. Patrick's Day Loft Party at 99 Sudbury. Games, beer and music will be happening at this massive post-paddys day party!

Shopping:
The last Gladstone Flea winter market takes place Sunday. Expect the usual vintage and unique finds from local vendors.

North York Really Really Free Market happens this Saturday. Start your spring cleaning early and drop off unwanted items, as well as take home some fresh finds. For free!

Bellwood Flea: Spring Break Edition is this Saturday. Enjoy tons of vendors, film screenings and retro video games throughout the day.

Local artists, chefs, designers, and more will be filling up 99 Sudbury for the Spring Equinox Pop-Up Market by Toronto Urban Collective on Sunday.

P.s!: This Sunday is the first day of Spring, so get out and celebrate!

P.s,
Melanie!
