LURAP Dress & Online Shopping Experience Review
Do you love what you're wearing? More often than not, the honest answer is:
not always. Not because you don't like what you're wearing, but the fit isn't just perfect. I, like thousands of other women, have come to terms that I will rarely find a piece of clothing that fits my body in all the right places perfectly.
So when I was contacted by
LURAP, an online custom clothing company, to choose a fashion piece from their site and review it for free, I got extremely excited to say the least. I had such a great experience reviewing
eShakti, another online custom clothing company, over a year ago, that I decided for this review to put the fashion power in someone else's hands. Instead of me choosing the dress I was to try on and review, I asked my close MALE friend James to pick one for me.
LURAP (Love UR APperance - get it?:) is an online fashion company that sells customized clothing and boasts
"style, trending designs and best fit experience for every woman". They sell a variety of clothing pieces from dresses to coats and a wide selection of styles and colours to choose from. So what did James choose? I decided I needed a new dress because, well I always need a new dress and after alot of convincing, James started looking through the selection of dresses LURAP has to offer. At first James asked my opinion on some dresses and I had to bite my lip from saying
'really... are you kidding me?' but instead saying out loud:
'Whatever you like best'. He finally chose the
Olive Colored Dress (he said he liked the side cutouts and fit) and I finished off the order myself.
After choosing my dress, I could input a standard dress size or input my measurements to get a custom fit. I also had to input my height, which is my favourite part - too many times had I bought dresses that were not made from someone my height (I'm 5'10"). I could also customize the colour and the hem length of the dress but I liked the length and decided to leave it as is and I chose the colour purple (of course). And voila! Just over a week later I received my brand new dress!

I made the big reveal to James when I accompanied him to his work's Christmas Party. He said it looked good on me, which is a high compliment for him! The dress fit great except for the bottom hem. Since the fabric has alot of stretch, the skirt of the dress should've been more tapered from my hips down to the bottom hem, but that's an easy fix. I actually love this dress and got compliments on it all night (mostly from James for his excellent fashion sense:). What I learned from this experience is that men shop by shape and form first and then colour and style while women usually shop by style and colour first. Overall my experience with LURAP was a favourable one. The dress got shipped in record time considering it came all the way from India and with exception of the hem of the dress not form fitting enough, it fit like a glove.
