The ROM's ¡Viva Mexico! Clothing and Culture Exhibition Review
Mexico has taken over the Patrica Harris Gallery of Textiles and Costumes at The ROM to bring Toronto a stunning in-depth look at the country's amazing textiles. ¡Viva Mexico! Clothing and Culture is a vibrant and dynamic textile exhibition that is one of the largest in the world with many textiles never having been displayed before.Tehuana Gala Ensembles |
From the video showing the dyeing process of wool to the many information panels displayed throughout the exhibit, ¡Viva Mexico! was not only visually stunning, but very educational as well.. I suggest to give yourself plenty of time to not only view the display cases, but to open all the drawers to marvel at the excellent crafted textiles.
I loved this exhibit and highly recommend it. It's a vibrant and colourful exhibit and is the perfect remedy to a dark and dreary cold winter afternoon in Toronto. ¡Viva Mexico! Clothing and Culture runs until May 23, 2016. Please visit ROM for more information.
P.s!: There is a full day symposium called Modern Mexico: Fusions, Fashion, and Folklore, presented in partnership with ¡Viva Mexico! on April 16. Tickets are on sale now!
P.s,
Melanie!
