My Style: Retro Beach Glam from Filosofia!

Now that the weather is starting to warm up (well sort of), I'm making a list and checking it twice of all the things I need to buy to get ready for Summer! One of the fashion items at the top of my summer shopping list was a swimsuit, which now has been (wonderfully) crossed off the list.

Several weeks ago I was sent a two piece swimsuit from new swimwear company Filosofia and I can't wait until I hit the beach!

Filosofia Swimwear was born on a life-changing trip to Brazil by founder Adyam Ghebre. Ghebre noticed that women of all shapes and sizes were confidently strutting down the Brazilian beaches in barely-there brightly patterned bikinis. She was so inspired by the confidence and beauty of these women, that she quit her job in finance and started her own swimwear company. She wanted to change North America's philosophy on which women look great in a swimsuit. Filosofia, which is Portuguese for philosophy, strives to adhere to a more realistic approach to physicality and wants women to 'challenge the norm'. Filosofia Swimwear offers a range of one-piece and two-piece retro inspired swimsuits that are designed in Canada and created by local Brazilian women in the country that inspired the line.

I absolutely love my Filosofia two piece bikini. The colour and pattern is so pretty! I've always wanted to try a high-waisted bikini, especially since I recently gained over 20 pounds and several inches at my waistline in the last few months. I'm not comfortable with all the new weight yet so the high-waisted Bahia Bottoms are perfect! The Bahia Bottoms are completely lined, which helps the tummy look smaller, and are so comfortable! The Candomble Bandeau Bikini Top is also super comfortable and the strap is removable.

The swimsuits start at only $55 and many pieces can mix and match with several others. My only concern is the sizing chart on the website. According to the chart I'm a size small, which was too large for me when I tried it on and I had to exchange it for an extra-small. Exchanges are allowed on unworn merchandise (yeah!).
