Exhibit: Getting Elevated in AGO's Tower!

Elevated: Contemporary Art in the AGO Tower Exhibition Review

I've always wanted to visit 'The Tower' at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO), it sounded so cool and romantic. A few weeks ago and then again on Saturday, I finally got the chance to go up to the tower, which was more cool than romantic.

Elevated: Contemporary Art in the AGO Tower is a long running exhibition that features art from the 1970's to today with an emphasis on recent AGO acquisitions.

Elevated opened in January 2015 and will continue into the fall of this year. Over the duration on the exhibit, several works by different artists will be featured. Two artists were already gone from my first visit and were replaced when I visited the second time.

Two of the main attractions of Elevated for me were David Altmejd's The Index, on display for the first time since 2010, and the amazing story behind Infestation Piece (Musseled Moore) by Simon Starling. I'm not going to give too many details about Starling's piece, you will have to visit Elevated to find out more, but I have been a fan of Altmejd ever since I saw his massive installation The Holes (2008) at MOCCA last year.

I highly recommend a trip to 'The Tower' on your next visit to the AGO. And while there, don't forget to check out Art as Therapy and the amazing Jean-Michel Basquait: Now's the Time exhibits! Elevated: Contemporary Art in the AGO Tower is running until Fall 2015.

P.s!: This exhibit is included with General Admission, so it's free on Wednesday nights! And don't forget to visit again to see what new artists are being featured!

P.s,
Melanie!
