Exhibit: Getting Elevated in AGO's Tower!

Elevated: Contemporary Art in the AGO Tower Exhibition Review

I've always wanted to visit 'The Tower' at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO), it sounded so cool and romantic. A few weeks ago and then again on Saturday, I finally got the chance to go up to the tower, which was more cool than romantic.

Exhibit: Cool & Interesting Beauty at Museum of Inuit Art!

MIA's Boldly Baker Lake + Stories from the Vault Exhibition Reviews

Over the weekend I visited The Museum of Inuit Art (MIA) down at the Queens Quay Terminal building in Toronto. I always enjoy visiting this small and charming museum filled with amazing Inuit sculptures and artwork.

In addition to the museum's permanent collection, there are three exhibitions currently running at the MIA - Boldly Baker Lake: Barnabus Arnasungaaq, Stories from the Vault, and Collaboratively Created Ceramics from Rankin. Each small exhibition is quite interesting, beautiful and worth the trip down to the construction-riddled harbourfront.

Nail Art: Spring Forward with imPRESS!

imPRESS Accent Press-On Manicure New Collection Preview

Now that the gloves (and mittens) are off with the weather becoming warmer, it's time to have some fun and change up some of my beauty routines. And just in time for Spring, imPRESS Press-On Manicure has launched a colourful nail accent collection.

ImPRESS Press-On Manicure is an easy and inexpensive way to give yourself a fashionable and trendy manicure in minutes, which lasts for days! I loved the Glitz & Glamour nail design that got me through the holidays, when I didn't have time to visit a salon. The winter season treats my nails pretty badly - between the cold outdoor weather, the dry indoor heat, and covering them up in gloves, my hands including my cuticles and nails, are looking a little rough. But thanks to imPRESS, my nails can look just as fabulous as my outfit.

My Style: Active & Fabulous!

Two Activewear Outfits from Winners

Five weeks ago I shocked everyone who knows me (and myself) and quit smoking and joined a gym. I began a Healthy Journey with many steps involved, including exercising and joining a gym. After signing up and paying my gym fees, I left feeling excited and proud of myself. But then just as I was getting on the TTC, it hit me - I needed clothes to workout in.

Active + Fabulous Style!: Adidas T-shirt, Leggings, Betsey Johnson Jacket, KGB Bag from Winners, New Balance Running Shoes, fit4balance, fashion, mystyle, fabfinds, healthy, wellness, outfit, OOTD, ideas, toronto, ontario, canada

I've never really owned anything that would be considered 'workout clothes'; I haven't visited a gym in almost 20 years, so I really wasn't sure what I needed. I didn't want to spend a fortune on new clothes and I wanted something I will be comfortable wearing. Thank goodness for Winners!

Exhibit: Now's the Time at AGO!

Jean-Michel Basquiat: Now's the Time Exhibition Review

For my birthday almost two weeks ago, I decided to finally visit Jean-Michel Basquiat: Now's the Time exhibit at the AGO. It was so amazing, with so many art pieces to see, that I will be returning for a second (and probably third and fourth) visit very soon.

Jean-Michel Basquiat: Now's the Time Exhibit at Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto, AGO, artmatters, crowningheroes, culture, pop, graffiti, brooklyn, new york, the purple scarf, melanie.ps, ontario, canada

Jean-Michel Basquiat is one of the most acclaimed artists of our time. Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1960, Bastquiat was only 27 years old and has only been painting professionally for seven years, when he died of a drug overdose; just a year and a half after his good friend and collaborator, Andy Warhol. Now 27 years later, his work that often portrays issues of racism, identity, and social tension, is just as relevant today as it was then.

Kiss InstaWave Automatic Curler Review

Lately, I have been looking into mixing up my beauty routine. I want to try some new looks and techniques, so when I was sent the Kiss InstaWave Automatic Curler to test out at home, I was really excited. Hair curls and boho waves have been popping up on runways and sidewalks everywhere. And now that toque wearing season is almost over, I'm ready to spend more attention to styling my hair.

Health & Wellness: My Healthy Journey Begins!

First 5 Steps to Reach a Healthy Goal!

My New Years Resolution this year (and every year for the past ten years) was to get healthy. I know that's a very broad objective but it actually encompasses five goals that I wanted to accomplish. I'm not getting any younger and I really want to be able to enjoy my life to the fullest extent, so this is the year that I made some positive changes to my life to put me on the healthy path. My healthy journey begins with these first five steps:

Health, wellness, quit smoking, exercise, the purple scarf, melanie.ps, toronto, ontario, canada, fit, lifestyle, goal

Step 1: Quit Smoking!
This was the hardest and biggest step towards my Get Healthy Goal, which it's the first one. I quit smoking several times over the years and it has been a constant struggle for me. With the help from my family, friends, and coworkers, I finally quit for good, 43 days ago and I feel great about it. My body (and mind) are still recovering, but every day I feel a little bit better, which keeps be going. Another big help to say smoke-free my entry in The Canadian Cancer Society's The Driven to Quit Challenge. It's offers advice, encouragement, and prize incentives to quit smoking for the month for March. So fingers crossed!

Exhibit: The Beaches Get a Winter Makeover!

Winter Stations Design Competition Winners Exhibition Review

Even though it was freezing and my fingers were numb, a friend and I braved the bitter cold two weekends ago to visit The Beaches in Toronto's east end. Yes I know it's winter, but lifeguard stations along the Balmy and Kew Beaches received a colourful makeover courtesy of The Winter Stations Design Competition.

Skincare Review: Say Goodbye to Winter Ravaged Skin (+ Makeup) with Garnier Clean+ Cleanser!

Garnier Clean+ Makeup Removing Lotion Cleanser Review

This cold winter season has been brutal on my face's sensitive skin. Waiting every workday for the streetcar at 6am in the wind tunnel, also know as Queen Street West in Toronto is absolutely terrible. And as the only skin not covered, my poor face takes the brunt of the bitterly cold wind. My skin has been feeling dry and coarse, and is starting to look very dull. That's why when I was sent Garnier Clean+ Makeup Removing Lotion Cleanser, I (and my skin) became really excited.

I have to admit I'm not a huge lotion cleanser fan. All the lotion cleansers I've tried in the past have never really worked well for me. Either they were too drying, irritated my skin, or just didn't clean my skin very well. But after trying Garnier Clean+ Cleanser for the past several days, I finally found one I love.

Douglas Coupland's ROM Exhibition Review

From a gum graffitied 7-foot head on Bloor Street West to major exhibitions at two of Toronto's best museums, Douglas Coupland is everywhere and anywhere! I enjoyed the Douglas Coupland exhibition at MOCCA a few weeks ago and last Friday night, I finally got to visit the rest of the Coupland art invasion at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM).
