Unique Valentine's Day Activity Ideas
Even with a big freeze hitting Toronto, I'm still excited about this weekend. Not only is it a long weekend (Woo-hoo!), but it is also Valentine's Day on Saturday. You probably already have Valentine's Night planned, but because February 14th lands on a Saturday, it's an opportunity to plan fun activities during the day as well. If you are not leaving the city or hiding indoors, I have a few fabulous ideas on how to spend Valentine's Day, either with friends, your special someone, or you IPOD.
Visit the Magic of The Winter Garden Theatre!:
Tour the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatres and explore the last operating double-decker theatre in the world. Also, view samples of the world's largest collection of vaudeville scenery. Tours are $12 (cash only) and start at 11am on Saturday.
Drink Beer, Have Fun!:
The Steam Whistle Tour is always fun and there is free beer! Tours run from 12pm-5pm (first come basis) and start at $10.
Enjoy High Tea!:
Several hotels offer traditional Afternoon Tea Service. Prices and locations vary. RSVP usually required.
Hold Hands and Skate!:
There are several places to ice skate in Toronto, but two popular ice rinks are Nathan Phillips Square and the Natrel Rink at Harboufront Centre. Skate rentals start at $8. The Natrel rink has a cleaner and larger locker room than Nathan Phillips Square and there is also a diner that serves hot food and cold beer!
Bask in Tropical Heat!:
Wander around the 100 years old Allan Gardens Conservatory that houses tropical plants and flowers from all over the world. Open 10am-5pm and admission is free!
Chill at The Coolest Place in Toronto!:
Visit the world's largest and Canada's only permanent Ice Lounge. Tickets start at $19 and reservations are required.
ART is LOVE!:
Visit the many art exhibits happening across the city! Various locations and prices.
Whatever you do this long weekend, have fun and enjoy it! I'm definitely looking forward to doing some of the things on this list, as well as spending time with friends.
Have you done any of the activities on this list? Which were your favourites? Have any other recommendations?
P.s!: And in case you are still looking for something unique to do at night Casa Loma is hosting a Winter Wonderland event from 5pm-8pm and admission is only $5. A dazzling light display with ice carving in the Lower Gardens, under the stars! How romantic is that!!??
P.s,
Melanie!
