Keurig 2.0 Brewing System Review
I had an early Christmas surprise just before the holidays! I received a complimentary Keurig 2.0 K400 Brewing System and a sample of K-Cups from Influenster to sample and review. And I have been enjoying amazing coffee at home ever since. When I first opened the box, I was a little daunted by it. It looked very confusing and hard to figure out. But it was so easy to set up and use.
After unpacking my machine, all I had to do was rinse out the water reservoir, easily attach the drip tray and run a "cleansing brew", which is essentially just running the machine without a K-Cup, dispensing hot water. And voila!, I have been enjoying amazing cafe tasting coffee at home ever since!
I am a coffee addict. Between working my full time job and working on my blog at home, coffee helps get me through the day. It's easy to get a great cup of coffee when I'm out, but I really missed it when I'm spending ten plus hours working at home. That's why I absolutely love my Keurig 2.0 Brewer.
The Keurig 2.0 has a really cool and easy to use touch screen. I can customize my favourite selections, set clock and timer for auto brew, and even customize the touchscreen itself to a different pattern or colour. I can also customize types of beverages and my beverage strength and size (4oz - 8oz). Unfortunately my to-go coffee mug is 10 oz, so I just run the water through the same K-Cup to top off my mug and add less cream. Now I don't have to stop by my local coffee shop on my way to work, which makes my hectic morning a little less hectic. I could easily set the timer for my coffee to brew in the morning, but because it heats up so quickly and quietly with just a push of the power button, I don't bother.
What's fabulous about the Keurig 2.0 Brewer is that it comes with a Carafe, which can brew up to five cups. Although the carafe is not insulated, so the coffee tends to cool, it's great when I have friends or family over and I need to brew more than one cup of coffee and serve right away. I haven't seen any K-Carafe packs in store yet, but hoping they come out soon! They are only available online right now. I can also use the brewer to dispense just hot water, which is wonderful since my electric kettle just broke.
There is a major drawback to the Keurig 2.0 - it only takes specially marked Keurig K-Cups. Not even old K-Cups will work with this machine including the reusable ones. So the environmental impact of throwing out all my used K-Cups is a little scary but Keurig says that all their K-Cups will be recyclable by year 2020. I'm also forced to buy the expensive specially marked K-Cup packs which can cost $10 - $13 for only 10 - 12 cups. I worked out the cost and it's not much cheaper for a cup of Keurig K-Cup coffee than a medium double double. There are alot of hacks online that showed me how to get around using the specially marked K-Cups and I tried a few which worked.
I was really happy with my new Keurig 2.0 Brewer, and thanks to figuring out some simple hacks, I love it! I still use some specially marked K-Cups (love the Timothy's Breakfast Blend and Van Houtte Vanilla Hazelnut), but I also use it for other beverages as well.
