Golden Globes Red Carpet Fashion Recap & Trend Alert
January is not just the start of the New Year but it also signals the start of awards season, and the amazing red carpet fashions. Last Sunday was the 2015 Golden Globes, hosted by Tina Fey (wearing Antonio Berardi) and Amy Poehler (wearing Stella McCartney). The Golden Globes red carpet is always spectacular, with some of the most amazing designer gowns, and outrageous fashion choices. It also can start trends and fashion phenomenons that will be seen on fashionable people around the globe.
Here is a look at some of the hottest trends from The Golden Globes 2015 red carpet:
Just like on the 2014 red carpet, red is still a huge trend. Three of the best ladies in red were Viola Davis in Donna Karen Atelier, Taylor Schilling in Ralph Lauren, and Helen Mirren in Dolce and Gabbana.
Shiny happy yellow has made a comeback! Three stars that donned gowns of this fun colour is Jenna Dewan-Tatum in Carolina Herrera, Leslie Mann in KAUFMANFRANCO, and Naomi Watts in Gucci.
Several gowns seemed had strategically placed pieces cut out of their dresses. Large to small, cutouts were a huge trend on Sunday's red carpet. Rosamund Pike in Vera Wang, Kate Hudson in Versace and Forevermark, and Christine Baranski in Zac Posen, are all missing pieces of their dresses.
Extreme cleavage was quite a daring trend that many women pulled off. In other news, body tape sales have sky rocketed. Sienna Miller in Miu Miu, Jessica Chastain in Atelier Versace, and Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad are just a few of the stars that dared to wear this trend.
One style trend that I cannot pull off (although I still admire those that can) is wearing winter white. Three ladies that glowed in white were Emily Blunt in Michael Kors, Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Narcisco Rodriguez, and Selma Hayek in Alexander McQueen.
A big night means big sparkles and metallics for some ladies. Three that pulled off the sparkled on the red carpet were Julianna Moore in Givenchy, Dakota Johnson in Chanel, and Reese Witherspoon in Calvin Klein.
I absolutely love all the looks featured above, but I have to mention one more: Lupita Nyong'o in Giambattista Valli. I just love this dress! It's so pretty and I love the colours, perfect dress for a glamourous awards show.
Not all the looks on the red carpet looked great. The first of the stars that didn't look their best was Kerry Washington in Mary Katrantzou. Her dress was just not flattering at all. I liked the colours and the cut of the dress - just not together. Keira Knightley in Chanel was another fashion fail surprise. Everything about this look is amazing (love the butterfly on the wrist!) EXCEPT the neckline, it just ruined the whole look for me. And lastly was Kristen Wiig in Delphine Manivet was a golden disaster. The dress is pretty enough, just a little too frumpy for the Golden Globes.
P.s!: New favourite hairstyle from the red carpet is Jared Leto's 'man-braid'. Last year he started the 'man-bun' craze, and this year the 'man-braid'!!!
P.s,
Melanie!
