Toronto Public Library's Four Families, One War Exhibition Review
I believe November 11, Remembrance Day, should be a National Holiday. To take only 60 seconds at work at 11:00am (and only if your workplace participates) to remember all those people who lost their lives in war, is not enough. Other countries around the globe do much more to honour Canadian soldiers, so why does Canada do so little? I was reminded of the heartache and loss of The Great War at The Toronto Public Library's recent exhibit Four Families, One War.The exhibit examines the experience of four Toronto families and their personal involvement in World War One.
Four different stories are told, both from the home front and at the front lines of the war. Through original propaganda posters, personal letters and photographs, I got a glimpse into how The Great War was viewed by those fighting it and those waiting for their loved ones to come home. I was reminded of the tragedy of war, not through history books, but by the words of those who were actually there.
This is a must see exhibit for everyone! Please take the time to visit and remember. Four Families, One War runs until January 11, 2015 at The TD Gallery located, in The Toronto Reference Library.
P.s!: This exhibit is free and open to the public!
P.s,
Melanie!
