Makeup Review: Sweet Tintations from Benefit!

Benefit's Benebalm, Lollibalm, Benetint & Lollitint Review

Still looking for a great gift for the makeup lover on your Christmas gift list? Benefit has a lot of gift sets to cover all varieties of makeup junkies and budgets.

I first saw this Sweet Tintations Benefit gift set at The National Women's Show in Toronto for $30, and just had to buy it. I may be a little behind, but I still haven't tried Benefit's tints or balms. So at $30 for both products in two shades, the Sweet Tintations gift set was a steal!

Included in the Sweet Tintations set is the Benebalm, Benetint, Lollibalm, and Lollitint. The tints are a stain for both lips and cheeks. The Benetint is a red rose colour, while Lollitint is more of a light purple colour (think Pantone's colour of 2014 - Radiant Orchid). I usually don't wear blush, I always finds it looks unnatural on my pale skin and I'm not very skilled at applying it. But these stains are great for beginners like me. The glass bottle and brush applicator is very similar to nail polishes, which makes the tint easy to apply. I brushed 3 strokes of the tint on my cheek apple and blended it with my fingers. Just be quick with blending, because the tint seems to dry quite quickly. And if I wanted darker colour, I brushed more tint on and blended. And that's it!

The Benetint gave my cheeks a pretty 'just walked in from the cold' flushed look, that women have been trying to perfect for decades by painfully pinching their cheeks. The Lollitint gave my cheeks a light pink glow. I know I love all things purple, but I prefer the Benetint on my pale complexion. It gave me a more natural look and complimented my colouring better. I think the Lollitint wold look better on me in the summer, with more tanned skin. The tints also had a slight floral scent and taste, which was nice, and the colour lasted almost my entire day.

The application process was virtually the same for my lips. Just brushed on the colour and blended with my fingertips. And repeated these steps if I wanted more colour. Both shades gave my lips a nice natural colour. I did find these tints a little drying to my lips, so I just applied my favourite lip balm over them, and voila, pretty lips that match the radiant colour on my cheeks! The initial glossy colour lasted for a very short period, but the stain lasted my whole work day! Fabulous! I received a smaller size (4 ml) of the tints in the gift set that are normally sold in stores, for $36 for 12.5 ml.

The Benefit balms are fabulous! Not only are they the same fabulous colour as the tints but no more dry lips issue! My lips look and feel great with only a few touch ups throughout the day. They also came in the full size in the gift set that are normally sold for $22 each! The floral scent is much stronger with the balms than the tints and they also have a floral taste, which is nicer than the chalky tastes of some of my other lip balms. Both the tints and balms are available in two other shades - ChaCha (Mango shade) and Posie (Poppy Pink Shade). And all these products can be found at Sephora and select Shoppers Drugmarts. Now my lips are ready for my New Years Eve kiss!

P.s!: I love wearing the balm over the tint! Not only do I get a deeper colour and more hydration for my lips, but the added benefit of the stain on my lips! There are several varieties of Benefit gift sets available, some that even include my favourite Benefit mascara! I know some locations have been selling out, but I saw alot still available in stores!
