Event: My Annual Girls Weekend with My Mom!

The National Women's Show in Toronto Recap

Every fall for more than 10 years, my mom and I have had a standing date, a girls weekend where we catch up with each other, eat good food, and of course shop until we drop (sometimes quite literally)! 

My Mom travels to Toronto on the bus and train, from the small hamlet she lives with my Dad, north of Toronto. Our Mother-Daughter weekend is always the weekend The National Women's Show is in Toronto, and we have so much fun at the show!

Last year was the first time that we went to the show on a Friday night and then again on Saturday morning. We both liked visiting the show this way and decided to do it again this year. After picking my Mom at Union Station, we walked the 10 minutes to the Toronto Metro Convention Centre where The National Women's Show takes place. We like going on Friday night because it's not as crowed and we can take our time perusing the booths. The variety of vendor booths is amazing! Fashion, beauty, home decor, travel, health, food, and more are just some of the categories the booths cover!

 

There's also some great guest speakers, fashion shows, and product demonstrations on the various stages throughout the show. On Friday night, my mom and I had the pleasure of meeting Stacey McKenzie! She is so sweet and funny! She even took the time to give my Mom tips on how to pose! She was also wearing the same Altuzarra For Target trench coat I own! Great Fashion minds shop alike!

 

 

 

Before we left, after spending a few hours shopping and posing, we decided to treat ourselves to a $10 gel polish manicures by the Bio Seaweed Gel Girls!

 

The next morning, we woke up early so we can get in line to ensure we are one of the visitors that will get a swag bag! Since we already visited the show the night before, we already knew which booths we missed or wanted to visit again. I bought some great Benefit products that I will post reviews on soon. I also bought the chic toque featured in my last Style Post and a faux fur scarf for $10 each! I picked up countless samples and a few more beauty products. My mom also made quite a few purchases. We wanted to wait around to meet Blue Jay Baseball Legend Joe Carter again, so we decided to hit the food aisles to sample enough food that we actually felt full.

 

What a treat it was to meet Joe Carter again! We met him last year and he is such a nice guy! After we got our photo taken with him and a free signed picture, we decided to call it a day. And what a great day it was. I love spending The National Women's Show weekend with my mom. We have so much fun together. We already have the weekend in 2015 marked in our schedules!
