Exhibit: Magnetic North Exhibit Leaves a Cool Arctic Chill at The Toronto Public Library!

Toronto Culture + Art Exhibition Review

Heya! I was so impressed with the Toronto Public Reference Library's last art exhibit that last week, I hurried to take a welcomed break during the sunny heat to visit their newest culture exhibit - Magnetic North: The Enduring Pull of the Arctic Explored through Art.  I have always wanted to visit Canada's Great White North, and was excited to see this free exhibit offered right here downtown Toronto!

Magnetic North explores the Inuit culture and the aspects of tradition, the beautiful and dangerous wildlife and landscape. Magnetic North is a blending of two very different collections to "expand the complex Arctic conversation". Recent Inuit drawings and carvings are among the contemporary Canadian art collection from TD Bank Group, while The Toronto Public Library's Special Collections includes historic maps, illustrated journals, and photographs.

I loved seeing the old and the new art displayed together in this exhibit to create a very interesting timeline of one of the most understood places in Canada. Magnetic North: The Enduring Pull of the Arctic Explored through Art is open until July 19, 2014 at The Toronto Public Reference Library TD Gallery: Monday through Friday, 9:00am - 8:30pm, Saturday 9:00am - 5:30pm, and Sunday 1:30 - 5:30pm.
