Exhibit: Fan the Flames at the AGO During World Pride!

Heya! Last week I visited the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) in Toronto to enjoy their newest exhibit Fan the Flames: Queer Positions in Photography. This is the first art and culture exhibit that I visited being presented as a part of World Pride Toronto event. And it certainly will not be my last.

Fan The Flames is an exhibition that features a variety of artists that have documented and explored queer identity and play of gender, through photographs and video, throughout four galleries.  The exhibit features historical and contemporary works that "chart[s] an increasingly diverse and public presence that challenges us to consider the ways everyday gestures, objects, tastes and styles construct and dismantle our gendered selves." This was a very interesting exhibit, I loved the historical photographs, and how people represented themselves so openly, at a time when it was against society's 'norm'. I have to caution people: there is explicit nudity showcased throughout the exhibit, so it may not be suitable for all ages. Fan The Flames: Queer Positions in Art runs from June 18 to September 7, 2014.

And P.s!: Fan the Flames exhibition is included with regular admission, which means it's also free to visit during Free Wednesday Nights from 6:00pm - 8:30pm.
