Mural Outside- Positive Mental Attitude (P.M.A.) by Maya Hayuk, 2013 |
The title of the exhibit was taken from a 17th century art historian Johann Joachim Winckelmann, who once criticized Italian artist Gian Lorenzo Bernini as having been "misled by nature" in his ornate sculptures. Misled by Nature has had some criticism as well. Some art critics felt that not all the works within the exhibition fit with the Baroque theme. By no means am I an art connoisseur, but I was in awe of the large installations and beautiful paintings and works included in this very interesting and thought provoking exhibit.
