Beauty: Eye MakeUp Remover Magic!

Heya! I have been struggling with finding a good eye makeup remover for a while now. With all the new make up I have been trying, I find that eye makeup remover has become a vital part in my nightly beauty routine. But I'm realizing alot of eye makeup removers have difficulty removing all my eye makeup, especially my mascara, or are too harsh and irritate for my super sensitive eyes. I also figure I'm probably not the only one with this problem and decided to review four different eye makeup removers.

I chose two inexpensive drugstore eye makeup removers, the Almay Eye Makeup Remover I recieved at Spark Sessions (read my about my full Almay Makeover from Spark Sessions here) and the popular Nivea eye makeup remover. I also chose two more expensive brands: Clinque and Lancome. It's surprising which one I liked the most. Here are the results:

1. Lancome Bi-Facil Double Action Eye Makeup Remover, $35 at Sephora and various department stores

This product boasts that it lifts all types of eye makeup and leaves eyes feeling cool and refreshed. I have to disagree with that. While Bi-Facial did remove my eyeshadow with ease, It didn't remove all my mascara and left dark smudges under my lashes. And it wasn't even waterproof mascara. Also, it irritated my eyes and made them feel dried out. And even though Lancome claims that that no oily residue is left on the skin, I found my whole eye area oily after I used this product.

2. Clinque Rinse Off Eye Makeup Solvent, $25 at Sephora and various department stores

 

Clinque's Eye makeup remover performed relatively the same as Lancome except without the greasy residue and burning feeling in my eyes. There was some mascara smudges left under my lashes, but the rest of the make up came off with a little patting and rubbing. I love that there was no burning with my eyes, although they were left feeling a little dry.

3. Almay Soothing and De Puffing Gentle Eye Makeup Remover Pads, $8.50 from most drugstores and cosmetic departments.

I love that the pads come with this product, makes it excellent to travel with. Although this product was gentle on my eyes, I found that it wasn't the best at removing my eye makeup. I still had mascara on my lashes after my inertial try, which made me rub more at my eye, which irritated them.

4. Nivea Gentle Eye Makeup Remover, $9 at most drugstores and cosmetic departments

This product was my favourite, just because it cause NO irritation or dryness with my eyes. Although I still had some makeup smudges left after I used it, they easily came off when I used my cleanser after the remover. I also like the fresh clean scent that this product has.

Although the Lancome and Clinque Eye Makeup Removers took more makeup, the greasy residue and irritation to my eyes was not worth using them. For the price and gentleness, Nivea is my best pick of this bunch. 

And P.s!: Today a friend told me she swears by the Marcelle Eye Makeup Remover, so I foresee a follow up post in the future! Stay tuned!
