Heya! A few weeks ago I visited the new exhibit at TIFF Bell Lightbox called David Cronenberg: Evolution. This exhibit is one of the coolest and strangest exhibits I have ever been too in a long time. But knowing David Cronenberg films, I wouldn't expect anything less. I knew I was in for something unique when I noticed the weird face morphing photo booth outside the exhibit, which is free for anyone to try.

The first section titled Who Is My Creator?, explores a young idealistic Cronenberg's first gruesome films, mostly shot around a younger City of Toronto. Many of the films from this period have achieved cult status in the Sci-Fi genre.
The next section, titled Who Am I?, covers the period of Cronenberg's first major commercial successes and films that delve into the main characters self inflicted pain and the outcomes of those tragedies. There are some really cool film props displayed like the telepod from the movie The Fly. There is also a room completely devoted to the film The Naked Lunch. The room is filled with amazing props and pictures. I also had the opportunity to have a drink with a Mugwamp.

This is TIFF's first major original exhibition. With over 300 original artifacts, mostly donated by Cronenberg himself, there was much to read, watch, and take in. David Cronenberg: Evolution runs until January 19 with special film screenings and talks with industry professionals throughout the exhibit's run. For more information, please visit http://tiff.net/cronenberg/exhibition. And don't forget to visit on a Tuesday, when the admission price is only $5!

And P.s!: Don't forget to visit the Body, Mind, Change lab on the fourth floor of The Lightbox! You can get fitted with your own personal POD, that will gather info on your likes and dislikes, and help enhance your life. My POD's name is Elena and she will be fitted into my spine at a POD party in January. So stay tuned! Or maybe I will see you there!
P.s,
Melanie!
