Beauty: I'm Gellin'!

Heya! I've mentioned it before, but I'm kind of a nail polish junkie. I love me some coloured, tricked out nails! But lately, with my full time job, working on my blog, and everything else life is throwing at me, I've have not given the attention to my fingernails that they deserve. And when I do spend time painting them, with my active lifestyle, the next day they are chipped. And all the work on spent on them goes to waste. I love the idea of gel nails. Colour that will last on my nails for up to 2 weeks, but to find the time to fit in a manicure appointment is hard, and can be costly. I needed a solution to this dilemma. So last week I cashed in my Optimum points at Shoppers Drugmart and decided to try the Sally Hansen at home Gel polish kit!

I am glad I did! I painted my nails over a week ago, and the colour is still going strong. It was easy to do. I just put on a base coat, cured in the LED lamp, added a coat of colour, cured again, painted a second coat of color, cured, and then put on a top coat and cured in the LED lamp again. It was that simple! The kit included the base coat, colour gel polish, top coat, Acetone remover, LED lamp, and nail file.

I didn't like the colour the kit came with, so I bought another colour, Pat On The Black, to paint my nails with. I did find that I was not use to the colour being so thin and runny. Regular nail polish colour is a little thicker, so more easier to apply. I also found, that even though the directions said I only need to cure my nails for 30 seconds, which was 1 cycle under the UV light, my nails were still a little tacky and wet. I ended up putting them in the LED lamp for 2 cycles every time and at the end I did 3 cycles. I did not find I was sensitive to the light, so the extra cycles were fine. But some people might be sensitive to the UV light, so use caution when adding extra cycles in the LED lamp. I also want to note that if you get any colour on your skin or cuticles, make sure you wipe it off before you cure under the light, or its going to be there a while!

Overall, I found that it was worth it to make this purchase (although I did just cashed in my Shoppers Drugmart points). For more information on the Sally Hansen gel polish kit go to sallyhensen.com The Sally Hansen kit usually retails around $80.00. The gel strip mini kit is a little less, but then you can only use the strips. Opt for the actual gel polish kit. With just a little practice, my nails will always be looking beautiful and polished, not matter how hectic my life is! Now what do do with all my regular nail polishes??!!

And P.s!: Try experimenting with different colours and designs! It's so easy to add lines or polka dots to your nails with gel nail polish, because the base coat colour is already dry within minutes! If you make a mistake with your design colour, just wipe off before you cure your nails. The base coat colour will stay! Have fun and keep on gellin'!

P.s,
Melanie!

    1. Heya! I'm glad you liked the post. All my social media sites are listed near the top under my welcome picture on the right. Thanks so much for commenting! Also, please keep in mind, English is a second or third language to some, so writing it doesn't come naturally to them. Have a fabulous day!
